South Korean road wireless1ly recharges2 buses
An Online Electric Vehicle3 (OLEV) runs a commercialized test drive at a bus stop in Gumi, 200km southeast of Seoul, South Korea, on Aug. 6.
South Korea has switched on a road that can recharge electric vehicles as they drive along it. The project’s4 developer says the 12km route5 is the first of its kind in the world.
It means vehicles fitted with compatible6 equipment do not need to stop to recharge and can also be fitted with smaller-than-normal batteries. Two public buses are already using the technology and there are plans to add 10 more by 2015.
